Hope is in high school when WWII begins when she meets and marries Vic Boyll at the age of 17 years. They marry before her high school graduation. Soon after SSG Victor A. Boyll is sent to the Philippines, where he gives his life in battle. Hope then meets Hilton Franssell, a veteran of the Navy. After Hilton and Hope marry they make their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
