Song of India is a popular song adapted from an aria in the opera Sadko (premiered 1897) Nikolai by Rimsky-Korsakov. Lou Breese (1900-1969), whose performance instrument was trumpet, was born Lou Calabreese. After playing in theater bands in the 1920s and first part of the 1930s he formed his own Big Band.
