From the dustjacket endflap: When Joyce Matthews decided to test the promises of God, she was a child in faith, not trained in the ways of the Lord. She failed to realize that she was releasing a Force that would take her into strange and devious pathways. The Lord led her along one step at a time, often through ways that were rought, and she found the Power she had invoked was great enough to alter the course of many lives. Best of all, she learned that true prayer depends on true trust, and that no one of us can inject his own will into such a prayer. Moody Press, Chicago IL. Minor visible cover wear and outer soil. Dustjacket shows moderate wear, roughed edges. We have added a clear Brodart protective cover over the dustjacket. Used vintage hardcover book with dustjacket copy of Helen Kennedy: Christian by Wynema Atherton, pseudonym for Wynema Fries. Grand Rapids MI: Zondervan Publishing House, 1937. 107 pages. 5-3/8 x 7-3/4 inches, 20 cm. Helen Kennedy, age 21, is living a life of gaiety and privilege. She is active in her fashionable church and social events in the community. Though she attends church regularly Helen is a Christian in name only as are most of the members of her congregation, including the pastor. When Stephen Leonard arrives to live with his aunt and uncle while waiting to begin missionary work, things begin to change. Helen and Stephen are drawn together and though they care for each other, their relationship has stalled because of Helen's unwillingness to turn her whole life over to Jesus Christ. Though Helen hears the Savior's call she refuses to listen, fearful of what she thinks she will lose by giving up a worldly life. At a social evening Helen challenges Stephen to participate in a way that she knows he will not do. When he leaves and then receives his call to mission, Stephen continues to pray for Helen's salvation. Helen then has an encounter with Mildred, Stephen's little cousin, she is given a message from the Lord that she cannot resist and surrenders her life to Christ. Helen, now a committed Christian, is not the only one moved to commitment and re-commitment to the Savior. Stephen's uncle and the pastor are as well. When the pastor of Helen's fashionable church, the Rev. Paul Lynchfield, preaches a true Christian message instead of reason many of the listeners are shocked, yet some commit their lives to Christ. The book ends with Stephen's return from the missionary field, and a happy ending to the story. A theme that runs through the story is a verse from the hymn, Loved with Everlasting Love by George Wade Robinson: Heaven above is softer blue, Earth around is sweeter green; Something lives in every hue, Christless eyes have never seen; Free shipping on domestic orders $25 and over!

Vintage staples show rust. Used vintage soft cover pamphlet type print book copy of The Missionary Message in Song No. 1 compiled by Eugene L. Clark, Director of Music: Back to the Bible Broadcast. Lincoln NE: Back to the Bible Broadcast. Copyright 1935 by Good News Broadcasting Association, Inc. 63 numbered songs. 5.5 x 8.5 inches, 22 cm. From the Foreword by Oswald J. Smith, Pastor of The Peoples Church, Toronto, Canada: The Missionary Message in Song is one of the most valuable songbooks every published. In it are gathered the greatest missionary hymns of all time, together with more recent missionary songs which have messages of real merit. For a long time I have felt the need of such a book for our nationwide missionary conventions. Here, at least, is a book which is rich in missionary hymns and yet so inexpensive that any church or convention can afford it. Together with the great missionary hymns of the church, known to Christians everywhere, are some of my most widely used missionary hymns which have been used in missionary conventions throughout the years. these hymns, as well as those of the outstanding missionary leader, Dr. A.B. Simpson, have inspired multitudes of God's people. The editors and compilers have done a magnificent work on this book. The material has been carefully and prayerfully selected. Mr. Clark, Mr. Weiss, and Mr. Epp, particularly, are to be congratulated on the publication of this book. Missionary songs are as important as missionary messages in stirring people to pray, give, and go. I trust that these wonderful hymns will inspire many young people either to volunteer for the foreign mission fields or to send out substitutes, in order to hasten the evangelization of the world and bring back the King. Summary: Jean Myers is a pale faced little girl with a cruel hump on her back who has not been able to walk since she was two years old. Though bound to her wheelchair and not being able to leave her home, Jean has a sunny, contagious spirit because she lives through Jesus Christ. Jean's widowed mother must work six days a week at a tailor shop to support them but she is not lonely, for she has a dog named Squirrel and the many friends who visit along with the silent relationships she was formed with people who pass by her window. Dr. Prescott, Jean's physician, is the first to find the light of Christ through her simple yet profound understanding of the difference between knowing intellectually that Jesus is the Son of God and having Christ's living light in one's own heart. God uses Dr. Prescott to witness to Ned Manton and to the new Pastor at Old Stone Church, leading them to accept Christ as their personal Savior. In turn, Ned and the Rev. Waller through Christ bring Ned's basketball team, Miss Daniel and her Sunday School class to saving faith while Old Stone Church experiences a revival. The story ends with the basketball team bringing Jean to the church on Easter Sunday. It is the first time she has been able to go to church. Jean is overjoyed to see her friends baptized. In the last chapter Ned goes off to college where he witnesses his faith to classmates. Free shipping on domestic orders $25 and over!

Things Which Must Shortly Come to Pass, Frodsham, Stanley Howard
24 Frodsham, Stanley Howard Things Which Must Shortly Come to Pass
Gospel Publishing House 1928 Hardcover Very Good No Jacket Hardcover
Very Good Minus Condition: Minor cover wear and outer soil. Solid binding. First page marked, erased pencil notations.Moderate age toning. Missing page corner, few short edge tears. Used vintage hardcover book copy of Things Which Shortly Come to Pass by Stanley H. Frodsham. No dustjacket. Gospel Publishing House, Springfield Missouri, copyright 1928. 117 pages, 20 cm. Red cloth boards with black stamped lettering on front cover, black lettering on spine. Stanley H. Frodsham was involved in the Pentecostal movement in England, known for his prophetic voice. The title of this book is taken from Revelation 1:1. This copy was published in 1928. Mr. Frodsham describes the society of his day giving many examples from around the world of its lack of Godliness. The relevance to today's society is that Christians in 2011 are saying the same things that Frodsham did but with different examples. Things Which Must Shortly Come to Pass by Frodsham is not a positive rosy look at the world. It is critical of current events of his time with predictions for a fire and brimstone end, with Christians who stand fast in their faith to receive a better end--skimming the text, I couldn't discern if Frodsham predicts what some Christians believe about what is called 'The Rapture.' Chapter titles: 1 The Coming Intervention, 2 The Coming Travail, 3 The Coming Apostasy, 4 The Coming Lawless One, 5 The Coming of the Rejected One, 6 The Coming Sifting, 7 The Coming Exodus, 8 The Coming Crash, 9 The Coming Restoration, 10 The Coming Judgments, 11 The Coming Kingdom, 12 The Coming Ages. 26 Graebner, Theodore Evolution: An Investigation and a Criticism
Northwestern Publishing House 1924 Third Edition Hardcover Good No Jacket Hardcover
Good Minus Condition: Unmarked. Tight binding. Evidence of liquid stain and ruffling throughout. Hinge at endpapers cracked. Corner shows one corner worn to boards, all other wear minor. Vintage hardcover book copy of Evolution: An Investigation and a Criticism by Theodore Graebner (1876-1950), Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. Milwaukee WI: Northwestern Publishing House, 1924. Third Edition. 159 pages. 5.25 x 7.75 inches, 20 cm. From the Prefatory remarks by the author: It is hoped that especially our young men and women who take courses at our universities will examine the case against the fascinating and in some respects magnificent conception of evolution as the case is presented in the following chapters. I realize that they, as well as intelligent readers generally, may not meet with confidence the statements of a theologian on a scientific question, least of all when he essays to treat such a question from the standpoint of science. He is presumed to be at home in theology, but a stranger in the domain of geology, astronomy, and biology. It is for the purpose of obtaining a hearing at all that these introductory remarks are written. But the argument must stand on its own merits.Free shipping on domestic orders $25 and over!
